Seattle had a two part ballot question. The first question was whether to change their voting method for the primaries. With a 51% to 49% vote to change the voting procedure on the first question, the second question was whether to replace that voting procedure with Ranked-Choice Voting which then passed with a 76% - 24% margin of those voting. It would be interesting to see how many of the No votes on the first question actually bothered to vote on the second question. (44)
The Columbian Editorial Board recommended a "no" vote on the ballot Charter Amendment No. 10 because while it would allow RCV for local elections, it will cause confusion. The editorial talks about the simplicity of the top-two primary system for some elections and Ranked-Choice voting for other elections in the County. It added that increased complexity undermines the vulnerability of democracy. (42)
